Centralia Homecoming | Terrible Indie Horror Game | PC Gameplay

The sequel is an improvement, but unfortunately it shifted from hilariously bad to uninspired, buggy and dull.

►About the Game –
Based on true events which occurred in the town of Centralia, Pennsylvania.

I lived an ordinary life, a job, a loving wife, a lovely daughter. I could not imagine what was going to happen on that fateful day in May of 1992.

My name is Henry Nelson, and I am going to tell you my horrifying story. My wife disappeared without a trace 7 years ago. A catastrophic accident took place in the small inconspicuous town of Centralia. An underground fire started, engulfing the coal deposits beneath the town. The greedy town authorities had dug so deep that according to rumors they unearthed something horrifying and very bad. According to some the terrified miners in their panic caused the underground fire. They say that almost everyone close to the epicentre of the find went insane. Centralia turned into a ghost town.

Only a small number of the townspeople were rescued, including my daughter Shirley. At the time of the tragedy I was away on a business trip. After the catastrophe it felt like my daughter was replaced. We moved to a neighbouring state. Today, on her birthday I went into her room and found a note which she wrote. It said that she was going to Centralia to find her mother. And I followed after her!

Inside the game you will experience a constant rush of adrenaline, a breathtaking storyline and unimaginable horrors. The world around the player will shift and change, and danger will be waiting around every corner.

  • I wasn't here for the first game, but I did hear a snippet of the narration. This one does not strike me as much better. The voice actor is just okay, but the sound quality is awful. Switching gears: Did you know there IS a Centailia, and that it is a a coal-mining town in Pennsylvania, abandoned for years because of a still-smouldering underground fire? This is supposedly the real-world back-story behind the video game and movies for Silent Hill.

  • Centralia is an actual place in Pennsylvania. A dump fire got into the rich coal veins under the town decades ago, and it’s been burning since then. Residents were encouraged to move out, as the government bought up the properties and knocked down the buildings. Only a few structures were left last time I visited.

There are places in town where steam or white smoke indicate the ongoing presence of the fire. I’ve heard that Silent Hill was modeled on the town.

The Molly Maguires were a real group. Substantial literary license was taken by the game developers. The group was more like a labor group than a religious cult, though their activities may have scared the bejeebus out of the mine owners.

  • The voice acting is incredible in its awfulness. Read straight, monotone. No emotion, no nothing. Blows my mind.

  • the fact they based it on Centralia which was inspiration for the shitty silent hill movie (which fans constantly spout how it was that town that inspired the videogame) already gives me an idea of how things are going to be…

  • I wouldn't called it terrible. It's bad and rough and had holes, gameplay flows and coppy-paste surroundings. But still it's trying to cath up with the main plot and though it's linear it's even trying to entertain player with some minor mechanics. So well, for me it's bad but not so much as terrible.

  • Definitely not a bad idea to put this in the "Horrible Indie Game" category again. The Centralia games are bad but the graphics are always good..lol..that's about it.

  • Silent Hill Homecoming. Now we have Centralia Homecoming, Pennsylvania. Okay, right . Henry!? Really? From Silent Hill 4: Room 302? But this game without critical gaze is fun. Fun. Ya, enjoy to play.

  • OK, I was literally losing my shit trying to figure out where the thumbnail guy was from cuz he looked so damn familiar to me… Here he is again at 44:30… Then it clicked!
It's Revenant from a shutdown moba I use to play called Paragon made by Epic Games (Rip in peace Paragon, you died for fortnite dances)
The worst thing for me about the model reuse is the creator of this game not bothering to do anything with the model, he's even in his default stance from Paragon.

The assets for the Paragon were put up for free for anyone to use after the game's shutdown, but it's still kinda lame seeing familiar models showing up in random low tier indie horror games.

It'd be like seeing Issac Clark from Dead Space in a random indie platformer, It's just odd.
Now i'm just sad again about Paragon being dead, Thank you for attending my Ted Talk.

  • My first impression was that the protagonist's voice was annoying as hell. Then I read the description and saw that some "famous" youtubers did some of the voices. I'm guessing Markiplier did the protagonist's voice? If so, that explains why it's so annoying. Should have gotten Mr. Nightmare as the protagonist's voice instead. He would have sounded a lot more natural and believable. Lazy Masquerade or Being Scared would have been good choices too. Both have voices perfect for horror.

  • it's definitely got so much more than the 1st. at least a story, inventory, journal etc. hoping they can improve it to good

  • The evil cowboy that popped up looked too good to be original. Its from Paragon – The revenant. At least it isn't stolen (Epic released all of Paragon's bits for free after Fortnite made them all the money.) Still, not even any attempt to modify the model and add their own touch/style to it. No wonder it looks so out of place.
