Kirito and Asuna were married. I think people shared their inventory if they were betrothed. Maybe that's why her blade didn't disappear? The other items that Asuna had were in storage and weren't equipped.

I had really high hopes for Sao when o watched the 1st ep. And then each ep spiralled down a shithole.

Actually, they covered the whole marriage thing in the creepy death episodes at the start-ish. If Kirito and Asuna were married, then Asuna's items would go to Kirito upon death.
They got married so her idems got transferred to kirito

The reason why asuna's sword stays in the game is because kirito and asuna were married and asuna said when players get married their inventories become one so they both have acces to each others items
The item wont disapperd if you are merried.

I guess the sentence about "taking the easy quests" is in reference to old MMOs (Like Lineage 2) in which monsters where "shared by everyone" even quest monsters, so if someone had already killed the quest monsters just before you arrived, you would have to wait until re-spawn, which could be anywhere between 2 and 10 minutes, or even more, for "better-rewards" quests, to avoid players farming those.
